Honor

Who would you honor today, and why?

“First LT Ira “Ike” Shober, Weston, WY. 1943-1945. US Army Air Corps B-24 pilot. He served his country without any hesitation. He kept all of his experiences to himself for all those years, raising and loving a family until he passed away in 2025. Later in my life, I have learned so much about him, his service, and his time as a POW. I am so proud and humbled to have known him.”

Reflection

What thoughts or feelings did your visit today inspire?

“I’m 16 and will never fully understand the sacrifice and hardship that America was built on, but coming here gave me a small window to envision it. Patriotism

What does patriotism mean to you?

“Americans should be proud of how far our country has come throughout challenges we have faced. Our country has made so many improvements to our freedom and the way we live. The only reason we are here is because of everyone who has sacrificed their time and lives.” –M. Turner, 9th Grade.
