WHY IT MATTERS
Veterans Talking to Veterans (VTTV) is a Wyoming-born initiative committed to building self-reliant, thriving veteran communities. Through battle-buddy support, storytelling, and trauma-informed connection, we aim to be agents of change in the lives of those who’ve served.
When you show up, you’re choosing strength over silence—and reminding every veteran that their story still matters and their fight is not over. The battles may be different, but the brotherhood—and the healing—endures.

Celebrate in Dubois, Wyoming on July 4th
DUBOIS – Celebrate Independence Day in true patriotic fashion at the Dubois, Wyoming 4th of July Parade, widely regarded as one of the region’s most spirited events. This year’s parade features a powerful tribute to American freedom with military vehicles—including tanks, jeeps, and half-tracks—honoring those who’ve served our country. Alongside these historic vehicles, enjoy a colorful lineup of floats, horses, tractors, and fire trucks. The day is packed with family-friendly fun. While the nearby National Museum of Military Vehicles will be closed on July 4 to allow staff to participate in the parade, we’re open daily throughout the summer, offering free guided tours and an unparalleled collection of military vehicles and artifacts.

July 5, 2025 – Iwo Jima Day at the National Museum of Military Vehicles
The National Museum of Military Vehicles (NMMV) has declared July 5, 2025, Iwo Jima Day at the Museum. The highlight of this event will be an expert presentation from special guest Shayne Jarosz titled “Iwo Jima, Past, Present, and Future: Why This Iconic Battle Still Matters to the United States.” This presentation touches on the battle, flag raising, its place in history, its return to Japan, and what is happening now on Iwo Jima. As we get closer to July 5, you will find full details posted on our website, Facebook, Instagram, X, and in an upcoming press release.
You are all invited to attend this unique educational event at NMMV on July 5, 2025.
American civilians are permitted to return to Iwo Jima only one day each year for a Reunion of Honor ceremony to remember and honor the American and Japanese troops who fought in this battle. I had the privilege of making this trip on March 29, 2025, the 80th anniversary of the battle. During the six hours or so we were on the ground, I climbed to the top of Mt. Suribachi and unfurled the American flag you see in the accompanying photo.
