NMMV’s U.S. 250th Birthday Celebration

You are invited to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the founding of the U.S. with us July 3 - 5.

FRIDAY, JULY 3

7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Extended Canteen hours. Breakfast is served.
9 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Extended museum hours. See the new WWI and Vietnam War exhibits that open June 27. Climb inside a tank in the combat vehicle rotunda. No public tours July 3 due to a full day of special events.
10 - 11 a.m.
Family fun. A selection of military vehicles will be available to explore and ride in outside the museum. Free with museum wristband.
11 a.m. - noon
Outdoor tank demonstration across the bridge behind the museum. After the demonstration, watch a car get destroyed by machine gun fire and then be crushed by a tank. Free with museum wristband.
Noon - 1:15 p.m.
Buffet lunch available for purchase at the Canteen (the USS Wyoming Room).
1:15 - 2:45 p.m.
Speaker program
  • Dan Starks – Founder of the museum. “America’s 250th”.
  • Steven Friess – Founder, Jackson Hole Classical Academy. “America’s 250th”.
  • Video overview of the Korean War (14 minutes long).
  • Shayne Jarosz – Founder American History Project; President of The Chosin Few. Shayne will honor America’s 250th by remembering the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War.
The speaker program is free to the public.
2:45 - 3:45 p.m.
Repeat of the family fun program from the morning with the opportunity to explore and ride in military vehicles. Free with museum wristband.
3:45 - 4:45 p.m.
Repeat of the tank demonstration and car crushing program from the morning. Free with museum wristband.
5 - 7 p.m.
Ticketed dinner with appetizers, drinks, and special buffet dinner in the USS Wyoming and Cowboy Guard Rooms. Reservations are not required but please let us know if you plan to attend this dinner by completing the form below.
End of program.
The Dubois rodeo begins at 7:30 p.m.

SATURDAY, JULY 4

The museum is closed to participate in the Dubois 4th of July parade with the following schedule:
10 a.m. - 1:30 p.m.
More than 25 tanks and other parade vehicles will be outside the restoration shop at 201 E. St. in Dubois. Visitors are welcome to explore these vehicles before the parade.
2 p.m.
The Dubois 4th of July parade begins.

SUNDAY, JULY 5

The museum will be open during its normal business hours of 9:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. A public tour of the WWII gallery begins at 10 a.m. A public tour of the Korean and Vietnam War galleries begins at 1:30 p.m.
Museum admission purchased on July 3 will be honored July 5 with no extra charge.
