A patriotic celebration built around service, sacrifice, and freedom.

On July 3, the National Museum of Military Vehicles will mark America’s 250th birthday with a full day of living history, immersive exhibits, and special-event programming that brings the museum’s mission to life.

The museum exists to honor the service and sacrifice of veterans and their families, educate the public on the history of American freedom, and preserve and share historic military vehicles. This special event extends that mission beyond the galleries and into a memorable Independence weekend experience.

Visitors can explore the museum, watch large outdoor demonstrations, ride in historic vehicles, and take in a featured Korean War presentation—all in one remarkable day near Dubois, Wyoming.

This is not a typical holiday stop. It is a chance to experience military history with motion, sound, interpretation, and hands-on access.

The UH-1 Iroquois, the Huey, was the Vietnam War’s iconic helicopter.
Military vehicle rides Guests with museum admission can ride in historic military vehicles during two scheduled sessions at no additional charge.
Tank demonstrations Two major demonstrations will feature tanks, machine gun firing, live interpretation, and a dramatic vehicle-crushing finale.
Climb inside a tank Visitors can climb inside the Easy Eight Sherman with docent guidance for one of the day’s most memorable experiences.
Korean War program A museum overview video and Shayne Jarosz lecture on the Battle of the Chosin Reservoir add context and depth to the day.

Regular public tours will not be offered July 3. Instead, the day is built around scheduled demonstrations and special-event experiences. July 3 admission will also be valid July 5.

The Canteen opens
Breakfast and food service begin ahead of the museum day.

Exhibits open
Museum galleries open for self-guided exploration throughout the day.
10–11 a.m.
Military vehicle rides
Included with paid admission. Rides will take place on a circular route on museum grounds.
11 a.m.–Noon
Tank and machine gun demonstration
Two tanks, commentary, machine gun firing, and a vehicle crush demonstration in the outdoor demo area.
Noon–1:30 p.m.
Lunch break
Time to visit The Canteen and explore exhibits between programming blocks.
1:30–2:45 p.m.
Korean War feature program
Museum video overview followed by Shayne Jarosz’s lecture, “The Battle of the Chosin Reservoir,” and Q&A.
2:30–3:30 p.m.
Military vehicle rides
Second ride session for visitors with museum wristbands.
3:30–4:30 p.m.
Repeat demonstration
Second tank, machine gun, and vehicle-crushing demonstration of the day.
5–7:30 p.m.
Evening dinner and reception
Ticketed dinner with appetizers, drinks, dinner service, and music in the USS Wyoming and Cowboy Guard rooms.

Know before you go

No regular public tours will be offered July 3. The day is focused on special-event programming.
Admission purchased July 3 will also be valid July 5, when guests may return for the museum’s normal schedule.
The Easy Eight Sherman climb-in experience is planned as part of the day.
The museum will operate on its normal schedule July 5.
